6 False Teachings in Christianity Exposed | KJV

At Truth Matters, we’re discussing what’s real—especially in faith. Christianity has deep roots, but not every teaching under its banner lines up with scripture. From wealth scams to fear tactics, deceptions are everywhere, distorting God’s word. It is time to expose six of the big ones—straight from the King James Bible, no fluff. These deceptions are not dusty history; they proliferate in and out of the churches as we speak. Why care? Because your salvation depends on it!

Blind faith in what you’re told over what scripture says leads us off-track (2 Timothy 2:15: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God…”). Here’s the lineup:

1. The Prosperity Gospel: Does God Want You Rich?

“God wants you rich!”—the Prosperity Gospel’s shiny pitch. But the KJV says otherwise. Matthew 19:24 warns, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” Riches can block faith, not prove it. 1 Timothy 6:10 adds, “For the love of money is the root of all evil…” This isn’t about poverty being godly—it’s about focus. Televangelists flaunting jets as “God’s favor”? That’s not scripture; it’s a hustle. Read Full blog HERE.

2. Hell as a Fear Tool: Grace vs. Brimstone

Fire and brimstone—preachers wield it to scare folks into faith. But Ephesians 2:7 says God shows “the exceeding riches of his grace.” Love, not terror, pulls us in. Matthew 25:46 mentions “everlasting punishment,” sure—but it’s justice, not a horror flick. John 3:17 backs it: “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn…” Fear’s man-made, not Christ’s way. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Grace builds belief; brimstone just burns. 3. Self-Help Faith: Happiness or Holiness?

“God just wants you happy!”—a cozy church sell. But 2 Timothy 2:3-4 says, “endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” Matthew 16:24 echoes, “take up his cross, and follow me.” The KJV’s clear: faith’s grit, not giggles. Modern sermons pushing comfort over calling? More self-help than scripture. God wants soldiers and ambassadors of His word to do His will; not self-pleasers whose only desire is themselves. 4. Church Power Grabs: Faith as a Transaction

Indulgences swapped cash for grace—old-school scam. Today’s “seed offerings” echo it: pay up, get blessed. Galatians 2:16 says no: ‘…a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ...’ Ephesians 2:8-9 doubles down: ‘…by grace are ye saved… not of yourselves: it is the gift of God’ Faith’s free—no receipt needed. Churches tying salvation to “doings”? That’s a deal, not a gift. Read Full Blog Here!

5. Pagan Mix-Ins: Tradition or Truth?

Christmas trees, Easter eggs, Bunnies—cute, maybe; but biblical? Jeremiah 10:2-4 says no. Colossians 2:8 warns, “Beware lest any man spoil you… after the tradition of men…” These traditions blend pagan roots with faith making them not pure. Fun? Sure. Truth? No. Read Full Blog Here!

6. Works-Based Gospel Exposed: Salvation by Grace, Not Works

The works-based gospel says you earn salvation—do good, get to heaven. But Romans 3:24 says, “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Salvation’s a gift, not a paycheck. Ephesians 2:8-9 adds, “For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works, lest any man should boast.” Works-based teaching—think penance, rituals, or “holy” acts—adds to Christ’s Finished Work, making it about you, not Him. Galatians 2:16: “A man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ…” Grace, not your effort, saves. Read Full Blog Here!

Wrapping it all up

All this Deception should come as no surprise considering 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 “…for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light….” But alas here we are. These six aren’t old tales—they are alive and well running their poisons deep into the vein of Christianity.

At Truth Matters, we are dedicated to helping people come to the knowledge of the truth and study out God’s word for themselves. If this lights a spark in you, hang with us, and join the fight (Ephesians 6:12). And despite what you have probably heard at some point; Faith is not blind. You are putting it in to something you believe, shouldn’t you know what it is? (1 Corinthians 2:5) Stand with us in the Word of God (1 Thessalonians 3:8)—because truth matters today and everyday.
