is your Faith in the Bible Verse

Faith | Who is our Faith really in?

Who is our Faith really in?

In today’s world, many people rely heavily on what others say about God, rather than searching the scriptures themselves. We’ve all been there—sitting in church, listening to a preacher, or conversing with a religious friend who seems to have all the answers. But how often do we truly ask ourselves: Who is our faith really in?

The reality is, for many, faith is not based on their own personal study or connection with God. It’s based on the interpretations and teachings of others—often people who hold positions of authority in religious circles. Whether it’s the preacher at the pulpit, a spiritual leader, or a friend who seems to know more about Scripture, too many of us are relying on someone else’s understanding of God's word.

We hear what others say and think, “That must be true, because they know so much!” But how many of us are diving into the Word of God ourselves, reading it, and asking for His wisdom directly?

Faith in Another’s Understanding

It’s a dangerous thing when we put our trust in someone else’s understanding without verifying it ourselves. God calls us to know His Word and to prove all things. In 1 Thessalonians 5:21, He commands us to, “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” How can we be sure of the truth if we aren’t doing the work of uncovering it for ourselves?

We are told to have faith in God, in His Word, and in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection—not in the opinions or interpretations of others. But if we aren’t seeking it for ourselves, how can we be sure that our faith is truly in God? Or are we merely placing our faith in someone else’s understanding of what God says?

The Question We Must Ask

It’s time to ask ourselves a critical question: Why are so many of us so complacent when it comes to putting our salvation into someone else’s hands? If we’re placing our faith in another person to tell us about God, are we really putting our faith in God at all?

Scripture tells us there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and man—the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5). Yet, how many people are willing to place their faith in a human mediator, rather than in Jesus Christ Himself? Are we allowing others to take the place of our personal relationship with Him?

Do You Know Him for Yourself?

You cannot have a relationship with someone you don’t take the time to get to know. If your faith is based on someone else's words, how strong is your relationship with God? How deeply do you understand His Word? How can you claim to put your faith in God if you are not personally engaging with His truth?

This isn't about questioning the authority of spiritual leaders, but rather about questioning our complacency. We are all called to be ambassadors—to personally know Christ, to believe, to search the Scriptures, and to develop a real, personal relationship with Him.

Where Does Your Faith Really Lie?

The truth is, our faith should not lie in a preacher, a religious friend, or any person. It should lie in God and His Word, which He has given us to know Him intimately. Only through this personal relationship can we truly place our faith where it belongs—on the solid foundation of His truth, not the shifting sands of someone else’s interpretation.

Is your faith truly in God, or is it in the person who has taught you about Him? Are you willing to take the time to dive into His Word and develop your own understanding, or are you content with someone else doing the work for you?

What Can You Do Next?

If you want to strengthen your faith and truly understand God’s Word, start by reading the Bible for yourself. Don’t just rely on what you hear—prove all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21). Ask questions. Seek answers. Don’t be afraid to dig deep and discover the truth for yourself.

Your faith matters—and it’s time to make sure it’s truly in the right place. God is waiting for you to deepen your relationship with Him. Are you ready to take that step?
